Holding it all Together: Yoga and Connective Tissue | Master Class | $65

Fascia is the physical structure that holds us together. Literally. It keeps our bones upright, our organs in place and supports the pathway of the nerves. A dedicated yoga practice involves moving layer by layer through the connective tissues. While fascia is the prime mover of the body, it is also a vessel for holding memory, feelings, dreams and identity. In this class, we practice movements that enhance the flow of fascia through the body. We also track how thoughts, feeling, memory and a sense of “I” are imprinted on the connective tissues.

Prana and the Bloodstream | $60

Prana is the deep life force. It is breath, blood and lymph and animates all the cells and tissues of the body. However, due to compression and stagnation, the blood and prana can become restricted. In this immersion, come prepared to generate blood flow through dynamic and supported postures. In this class, we support the circulatory and lymphatic systems by practicing movements that “pranagize” (energize) the body by bringing blood flow to all the tissues. This aids in nourishing the tissues, healing chronic pain and bringing vitality to the body and mind.

Building the Bones in Yoga | $65

As we age, our bones become lighter and less stable. In the spiritual traditions of India and China, the bones that hold the marrow are thought to house the deep life force. In this class, we practice standing and supine poses in order to tap the bone energy and move from the body’s deepest essence.

Mind Your Back! | $65

It is common for there to be constriction in the back body, especially in the feet, calf muscles, hamstrings, buttocks and back. In this class, we practice forward bends to stretch, lengthen and widen the back body from heel to crown. This enables an abundance of energy to flow throughout the body. Using forward bends, twists and sidebends, this class reduces fatigue and stiffness while bringing a quality of lightness and suppleness to the spine.

Riding the Wave of the Breath | $65

In yoga practice we follow the rise and fall of the breath, noticing its ever changing nature. In this class, we practice yoga postures and flowing movements (SATYA) to allow the wave of breath to widen, soften and deepen. By alternately extending and contracting the body’s connective tissues, we pump fluids through the circulatory system and irrigate blood and lymph into all the cells of the body. This class is designed to sense and feel the movement of the life force throughout the subtle body. By riding the wave of the breath we prepare for pranayama, the yogic art of breathing.
