Yoga, Fascia and the Feeling of Being Me with Tias | Thursday, July 20th 9-3pm

Connective tissue (fascia) holds us together. Literally. It keeps our bones upright, our organs in place and supports the pathway of our nerves. A dedicated yoga practice, involves moving layer by layer through these connective tissues. While fascia is the prime mover of the body, it also a vessel for holding memory, feelings, dreams and identity. In this immersion we practice movements that enhance the flow of fascia through the body.  We also track how thoughts, feeling, memory and a sense of “I” are imprinted on the connective tissues. Like working in clay, this yoga practice will make the fascia malleable, shapeshifting the container of who we think we are and who we think we ought to be.

Opening the Inner Eye of Yoga with Tias | Friday, July 21st 10:30-12:30pm

More than ever, we must find ways to open to new possibility.  Theodore Roethke once wrote, “In a dark time the eye begins to see.”  In this practice, we bring lightness to the body in order to become centered and still. This involves opening the central pathway through the spine, mystically described as a shaft of light. In meditation, we open the eye of wisdom, to realize the freshness and clarity of each passing moment.

*Please bring one yoga strap, a block and blanket. Practice involves meditation, movement, and exploration.

The Tides of the Fluid Body with Tias | Saturday, July 23rd 10:30-12:30pm

Our bodies are approximately 80% water. The body fluids and sustaining life force called prana flows in wave like patterns. Like the way tides in the ocean move in response to gravitational pull, the body’s fluids– the blood, lymph and cerebral-spinal fluid– move in pulsatory surges. In this yoga practice, we sense and feel the tidal rhythms of our vital fluids in order to support optimal health in the body.

*Please bring one yoga strap, a block and blanket. Practice involves meditation, movement, and exploration.

Moving into Stillness with Tias | Saturday, July 23rd 3:30-5:30pm

This class includes movement with precision of alignment. In the alchemy of our practice we unite stillness with movement, whether in seated meditation, flowing through postures or doing unwinding movements on the floor (SATYA). This leads to states of sublime awareness and feather fine concentration.

Joyful Practice: Arm Balances with Surya | Saturday, July 23rd 8:30-10am

We will combine precision of alignment with the fire element of summer, to balance and fuel our poses. Whether or not you have an arm balance practice, this class safely guides students into the exquisite weight bearing needed in the hands, wrists, forearms and shoulders.

Opening the Heart: Backbends with Surya | Sunday, July 24th 1-3pm

Backbends open the heart, stimulate the nervous system, and create powerful feelings of expansion. In this class, we use internal breath and precision of form to practice fundamental back bends such as bridge and wheel. Learn to power your backbends from your legs in order to stretch your interior spine. Come prepared to build inner radiance and beauty through joyous practice!
