Opening the Pathway of the Nadis

TIAS LITTLE- In the ancient yoga texts, it is said that prana flows through multiple rivers, streams and tributaries called nadis. The practice of yoga postures helps the movement of nerve and blood through these channels. By alternately extending and contracting the body's connective tissues, we pump blood and lymph through the circulatory system. One of the primary ways to heal the nadis of the body is through a kind of soaking whereby all connective tissues are bathed in fluid. This course is designed to sense and feel the soaking and saturating effects through restorative yoga practice. This kind of practice enables consciousness to be absorbed in a direct experience of samadhi.

Yoga of the Subtle Body: Exploring the Physical and Energetic Practices of Yoga

TIAS LITTLE- This 5 day immersion explores the Subtle Body by addressing the intersection of emotional, physical and psychological content. In this week we connect to the inner most biorhythms including pulse, breath and weight of bone. We engage the sacred, astonishing and infinite potential of the body, underlying all waking experience. From this perspective, each breath, each pore of the skin and each movement through the connective tissue becomes a window to the vast universe. This week is a rich weave of dharma study, guided meditation and poems of awakening from the Yoga, Taoist and Zen traditions. Through somatic mapping and the therapeutic application of yoga postures, this is a transformational week of practice and study.

The Yogi and the Buddha

TIAS LITTLE- Through Yoga practice, the Buddha cultivated a firm spine and open hip joints to embody the highest wisdom called prajna. The word prajna suggests an insight or understanding that is not simply intellectual but involves an embodied, cellular knowing. In this week-end we combine the powerful techniques of asana and pranayama with the clear and poignant teachings of the Buddha dharma. We use asana to strengthen the body and dharma study to gain insight into the mind and emotional body. This process requires sensitivity, listening and a capacity to intimately connect with what is happening. Through dharma study, guided meditation, somatic awareness and yoga postures, this immersion is a profound integration of yoga and mindfulness. Tias guides students to states of inner reflection through poems of awakening from the Taoist and Zen traditions.
